TikTok banned in India after Court Order

TikTok has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Earlier this week Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had sent a letter to Apple & Google to abide by court order to prohibit downloading of TikTok app. Now TikTok has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The court responded to the petition earlier this month, which sought a ban on the app stating that the app promotes disturbing content & degrades culture. It also said that media is prohibited from telecasting the videos made using the app.

The ban comes after Madurai Bench of Madras High Court refused a request by China’s Bytedance Technology to suspend ban on the app.
